Rodgers > Favre

So heres the deal. Brett Favre will forever be the greatest packer of all time. Everyone in the state, including me, worshiped the man. He was a pleasure to watch ever sunday for 16+years. I wouldn't have traded Favre for anyone, ever. He was, and for many Wisconsinites remains, our hero.

But I am a stats guy. And I like to think I can watch a ball game and determine who has it, and who doesn't. My premise then is this, I'd rather have Aaron Rodgers than Brett Favre. Of course its not that fair of a comparison due to the massive difference in age, but Aaron is flat out superior to Brett right now. A look at the numbers makes that pretty clear.

AR QB rating: 93.3
BF QB rating: 88.8

AR td/int ratio: 13/5
BF td/int ratio: 16/12

AR yards per game: 236
BF yards per game: 219

AR rushing yards: 125
BF rushing yards: 14

Now consider this, AR's current rating of 93.3 is better than BF's rating in 12 of the 16 years he played for the Packers. So if Rodgers maintains that pace, he will have accomplished something that Brett only did 4 times in 16 years in GB. Furthermore, if AR bumps that number up to 100 he will accomplish something Favre NEVER did.

No one can predict the future. No one can say that AR will play every game for the next 16 years, but IF HE DID, he would probably put up better career numbers than Favre.

Rodgers has flat out made some unreal throws this year. I think GB has a special talent at the QB position and Packer fans who have yet to convert, will become huge Rodgers fans soon. This is his FIRST yer people, and he is currently 5th in the NFL in QB rating. The guy is a phenomenal thrower.

GB will make the playoffs this year and AR will be the reason why.
